The Medical Music Therapy and Arts in Medicine programs were established as part of an agreement between Florida State University (FSU), Indian River State College (IRSC), and Lawnwood Regional Medical Center (LRMC).
As of Fall 2007, students can begin a 4-year Bachelors degree in music therapy at IRSC, where they complete the first two years and then transfer to FSU for their final two years. Students attend music therapy classes at IRSC and gain clinical experience/training at LRMC.
FSU funds the music therapy professor at IRSC and the full-time medical music therapy coordinator at LRMC, while LRMC provides funding for music equipment, resources, and intern stipends.
